Being Brutally Honesty...

Being Brutally Honesty when you Journal is the key to unlocking your innermost thoughts and feelings.

I want you to create a safe and non-judgmental space where you feel comfortable exploring your thoughts and feelings without fear of criticism. That's why a Journal is the perfect place to do this.

I want to encourage you to always write like no one is ever going to read it. Don't filter your writing for public consumption, be Brutally Honest with yourself and that page in front of you, and you will get so much more out of it!

Here are 7 tips to get you started:

  1. A Journal is a private and confidential space. Your thoughts and feelings will not be judged by others. This is your secure place, allowing you to be more open and honest with yourself.

  2. Journaling is also a tool for personal development and self-discovery. You should view your reflections as opportunities for growth rather than as a means of self-criticism. By being brutally honest with oneself, you can take a crucial first step towards understanding and addressing any personal challenges that you may already be having.

  3. Use Open-Ended Language: This will encourage deeper reflections and greater introspection. Avoid asking/answering your own "yes-or-no" questions and instead ask questions that prompt you to explore your feelings, motivations, and experiences which will lead to a more honest response.

  4. There are no right or wrong answers in Journaling. Self-discovery is a process, and every thought or emotion you express is valid. Always bear this in mind and this will help alleviate any fears you may have of judging yourself for what you have written.

  5. Always write without a filter. Put those raw thoughts and emotions down onto that piece of paper without worrying about how you may sound or what others might think; after all, they're not going to read it.

  6. It's important to reflect on both your successes and your perceived failures. I want you to explore not only what went well but also areas where you may have struggled or faced difficulties. This balanced reflection will lead to a more honest and comprehensive understanding of yourself.

  7. Schedule regular self-reflection sessions where you can revisit and review your Journal entries. This practice can help you track your own progress, identify patterns, and gain insights into thoughts and behaviours that may or may not have served you well previously.

Remember that the goal is to create a supportive environment that fosters self-awareness and growth. While I encourage you to write with brutal honesty, it's crucial to balance it with self-compassion and a positive mindset too. Just don't try and kid yourself.... THAT NEVER WORKS!
