The Mind Glide Technique

This is one of the best ways to sort through all those thoughts which are gliding around inside your mind.

GET STARTED

Start by writing down a list of all your thoughts. They may be work related, personal, ideas, reflections, anything really. Just take all those thoughts and get them down onto that piece of paper.

After a short while, your thoughts will begin to slow down. At this point, ensure you’ve dug deep enough and left no stone unturned. If there is a niggle, make sure it's written down... don't leave it to dwell, as it will resurface at some point.

PRIORITISE

Then you can begin to sort through all the items in your Journal.

Some will need immediate action. Deal with those first, get the hard stuff done first. Ask questions about those thoughts, delve a little bit deeper and ask yourself why that thought is a constant!

Next, deal with the thoughts which fall lower on your list of priorities; the ones which need your attention, but aren't nagging at you constantly.

Finally, drop the thoughts which don’t serve you, the ones that you have no control over. Don't give them space in your Journal, just cross them out.

BE RUTHLESS

That last category can catch you out sometimes. Unless you are brutally honest with yourself, you can add important items into this list because you don't want to deal with them. DON'T DO THIS - Write about the difficult stuff, it's the only way you can begin to process those negative thoughts.

Collating this list will free up your mind and enable you to deal with the here and now and allow you to focus on the priorities in your life.
